Terms of Use
The short version. Sign Docs is a tool for filling in and signing your own documents on your iPhone. Your documents stay on your device. Some features need a purchase, billed by Apple: a subscription, or a one-time purchase for a single document. The app helps you read documents, but it does not give legal advice, and you remain responsible for what you sign.
1. Who these terms are with
Sign Docs ("the app") is published by Andrey Alferchik, an independent developer ("we", "us"). These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and us. By downloading or using the app, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
How we handle data is described separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
2. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may use it for your own purposes, personal or business.
You may not copy, resell, rent or redistribute the app, reverse engineer it except where that right cannot be excluded by law, or remove any notices from it.
3. Your documents and your account
The documents, signatures, stamps and text you create or import remain yours. We claim no ownership of them and, as described in the Privacy Policy, they stay on your device – we do not host, browse or back them up.
Because your documents live on your device, keeping them is your responsibility. Deleting the app deletes them. We cannot recover anything for you.
You are responsible for having the right to use, fill in and sign every document you bring into the app, and for the signatures you apply.
4. Electronic signatures
The app lets you place a signature you drew, scanned or generated onto a document. Whether a resulting signed document is legally binding depends on the law that applies to you and to that document, and on the requirements of whoever receives it. We make no promise that a document signed with the app will be accepted or enforceable in any particular situation. Where a document requires a handwritten signature, notarisation or a qualified electronic signature, this app is not a substitute.
5. AI features are not legal advice
The app can summarise a document and point out terms worth a second look. This is an automated reading aid produced by a language model. It can be incomplete or wrong.
It is not legal advice, and we are not a law firm. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for signing anything that matters. For consequential documents, consult a qualified professional.
6. Connecting Google Drive and Dropbox
You may connect a Google Drive or Dropbox account to import documents. The connection is read-only and import-only: the app copies a file you pick onto your device and never writes to, moves, renames or deletes anything in your cloud storage.
Those services are operated by their own providers under their own terms. You can disconnect at any time in the app's Settings, which deletes the stored keys and revokes the app's access.
7. Purchases and payments
Some features require a purchase: Sign Docs Pro, a paid subscription, or a one-time purchase that unlocks a single document. What is included, the price and, for a subscription, the billing period are shown in the app before you buy.
- Purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account, not by us. We never see or handle your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings, not in the app. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period runs to its end.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- A one-time document purchase lets you export, print and save the one document it was bought for, as often as you like. You can correct and re-sign that document and export it again at no extra charge, as long as at least one of its original pages remains. A copy, or a document whose original pages have all been replaced, counts as a new document. It does not include Pro features such as AI Check or AI signatures.
- A one-time document purchase belongs to that document on your device. It is not brought back by Restore, does not move to another device, and is lost if you delete the document or the app. A purchase that cannot be applied to its document (for example, because the document was deleted while the purchase waited for approval) is kept as a credit for your next export; credits do not expire.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policy. We cannot issue them. If a purchase is refunded, the access it gave may end.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use the app to forge another person's signature, to alter a document you have no right to alter, to create anything fraudulent or misleading, or to break any law that applies to you. Do not attempt to disrupt, overload or probe our server beyond ordinary use of the app's features.
We may limit or refuse service where we reasonably believe it is being used this way.
9. Availability and changes to the app
Features that talk to our server – document analysis and Word conversion – depend on that service being reachable, and are subject to fair-use limits described in the app. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may impose or adjust limits. Where a change materially reduces what a paid subscription provides, you may cancel it as described above.
10. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that text recognition or document analysis will be accurate, or that a document produced with it will meet any particular requirement.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for lost profits, or for loss of documents or data arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not with Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app, its content, product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal requirements, and third-party intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you materially breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive – ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability – survive termination.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the new version will be published at this address with an updated effective date. Material changes will be additionally highlighted in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Belarus, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
